After graduating Clemson University, serving in the Navy and then attending law school, Dan Speights came home to Hampton, SC to practice law in 1975. He quickly developed a successful general practice . Dan decided to pivot his practice and to tackle one of the nations largest problems, asbestos. This decision required unique problem solving, hard work, and a determination to never quit. On behalf of the city of Greenville, SC, Dan obtained the nation's first jury verdict against asbestos manufacturers on behalf of a building owner. From that point in time and from South Carolina to North Dakota to California, Dan Speights was and still is leading the charge for the fair treatment of property owners dealing with the effects of asbestos. The lessons and habits learned in that national litigation created a brand of advocacy that is efficient but thorough and sophisticated but without pretense. This same process is employed by Dan and Gibson for the firm's clients in every case. A process that helped property owners change the law nationwide, one that values hard work, unique methods of attacking a problem, and never quitting, and has benefitted clients for over four decades
